A Little Background

I am a researcher in the School of Computer Science at Sydney University, where I work on the interconnections between artificial intelligence, game theory, and human behaviour. My professional life has passed through various disciplines, giving me a range of skills that have been useful for my work in studying the complexities that influence our modern world.

I originally studied a Master's in Mathematics, followed by a PhD that focused on non-rational choice in game theory. Between my Masters and my PhD I had a short stint in the private sector as a corporate strategist and then as an economic analyst for the New Zealand Government.

Following my PhD I had the opportunity to work in econo-physics as a post-doctoral fellow, investigating financial market dynamics. From there I moved to a psychology research lab, where I worked on developing an AI model of human "perceptual expertise" for the game of Go.

In my current research, I am working on big data methods for non-linear market dynamics, looking at the non-linear aspects of game theory, and investigating the psychological properties of artificial intelligence, such as "theory of mind" and "introspection". In combining these fields, I explore a fascinating combination of fields at the intersection of AI, game theory, and human cognition.
